FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION – PUBLIC SCOPING MEETINGS
Please consider attending one or both of the upcoming FERC Scoping Meetings. They are:
Wednesday, July 29 – Start time: 6:30
Thursday, July 30 – Start time: 6:30
Milford Town Hall
A “Scoping” meeting is an opportunity to make a request of FERC to investigate anything related to the potential environmental impact of Kinder-Morgan’s proposed Northeast Energy Direct (NED) pipeline as the FERC prepares an Environmental Impact Statement relative to the pipelines. When attending the meeting there are two ways you can have an impact.
1. You can show up an hour early and put your name on a list. If time allows you’ll be permitted 3 minutes to speak – strictly related to environmental impact issues. Once you’re done speaking you must hand in your written testimony. –
2. You can elect to attend and not speak – it’s important that we have a show of force to demonstrate our opposition to this project by covering the available media with as much information relative to our opposition of the pipeline as possible. There will be cameras & roving reporters who need to hear from all of us. In these cases your comments do not need to be limited to the environment.
A sparsely attended event will be a victory for Kinder-Morgan.
If you’re available, we will be holding a brief overview of the scoping meetings at:
Mason Congregational Church – Fellowship Hall
Monday, July 27
6:30 PM to 7:00 PM
Please be punctual. A presentation by the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund regarding a Community Bill of Rights will begin at 7:00 PM.
