From the Highway Department: Upcoming work on Mason roads
With mud season approaching, the Mason Highway Department will be putting up signs at the ends of gravel roads to advise motorists to use caution when traveling through muddy areas. We try to make these areas as passable as possible, but until the frost comes out of them, there is only a limited amount that can be done to improve conditions.
After the frost is out, we begin grading the roads and applying gravel to make them smoother.
In the warmer weather, Mason roads will have posted weight limits again this year. The weight limit will be six tons to minimize any damage to both paved and gravel roads caused by the heavy loads that trucks carry.
Webmaster’s note: This information has also been posted to the Highway Department’s Current Projects page (http://masonnh.us/highway-department-current-projects/).
